I walk slowly towards Greg. We haven't really talked after my break up, but he's always been my friend. So better re-new that friendship.
"Hey stranger," I wave my hand and stop beside him. "How are you?"
He looks tired, but that's no surprise he's still working hard, maybe even harder than before.
"Tobey...hi," I look up and smile at him. "Sorry I was just thinking about something...I'm fine, good, everything is good, perfect, wonderful."
I stop the mowing and take a sip from my water bottle. It's nice to see TObey. We haven't really talked a lot recently. I've been busy with Drew and he has his own relationship with David.
"Drew moved in with me," I just blurt it out.
"What? When? How...what...how did that happen?" I look at him. "That's great though, wonderful...I'm so happy for you!"
I rush to hug him, he looks so happy. I'm glad everything has worked out for him after all he's been through. It's so great his relationship with Drew is getting better and better all the time.
Step out of my cabin and head out for another walk, to think, exercise...whatever right? And I see Tobey with a nice soccer ball.
With an evil, mischevious grin on my face, I motion to Greg not to say anything while I'm sneaking up behind Tobey. One step....two....kinda crouching, eyeing my prey. Two seconds and I sprint the last couple yards and lift Tobey up in the air!
He lets out a yelp of surprise and I give a full on tackle, leaving him breathless and laughing underneath me! "Full Contact Soccer....you gotta love it!" I get up and offer Tobey a hand, winking at Greg with a huge smile on my face.
"You...you...you...," I wave my finger in front of him when he pulls me up. "That wasn't funny!"
Well actually it was, but I'm not going to admit it to Topher. It will just go to his head and then he'll do it all over again and again and again. I look at Greg, he's trying hard not to giggle.
"Go ahead just laugh," I give up and shrug.
"Ok," I grin and giggle quietly. "I'm sorry Tobey, but that looked so funny!"
Weird to think that Topher got Tobey up in the air like that. He doesn't look that strong, but Tobey probably doesn't weigh so much.
"I'm just going to take this away so we have some room to play," I start to push the lawn mower to the other side of the yard. "Don't start without me!"
Tobey was right, this is going to be fun. I don't really know Topher, so it's going to be interesting to get to know him.
I heard the shouting into my cabin and curiousity got the better of me. I saw that easter bunny guy, Topher lifting Tobey up. I couldn't help myself. I laughed, it's been a while since I've laughed.
I rush to get dressed and grab my sneakers before I run out the door.
"Hey guys! Room for one more?" I run to greet them.
"Hey Dan," I bump into Dan. "Good to see you, of course you can join us. Have you met Topher?"
I have no idea if they've met. I've been so wrapped up with Drew and work, I have no idea what's going on around camp. I love Drew very much, but he knows I like to hang out with other people too.
"Yes when he was the easter bunny," I laugh when I remember that. "I think we've talked briefly when he was himself too."
I put my hand on Greg's arm. He's so much braver these days, it must be the love giving him confidence. I wave my hand to Tobey and Topher when I see them walk to us.
I heard the words 'bunny' and 'easter'...causing me to roll my eyes and laugh to myself. "I'm never going to live that down am I?"
Tobey's pulling on my arm as we approach still...what's he up to though? I shrug it off and keep on walking.
"Hey!" I shout to Topher. "Top, come one!"
He tackled me out of the way so Dan gets the ball.
"We need a referee!" I wrap my arm around his neck gently and ruffle his hair. "To keep you in line!"
I laugh and let go of him so I can run after Dan.
Tobey runs towards me and easily starts to run backwards in front of me. I know he will try to do something to distract me. I try this trick I used to know. It's been ages since I've done it.
It doesn't work and Tobey kicks the ball away from me between my legs.
"A little help here!" I laugh and look at Topher.
I try desperately to get away from Topher now that Tobey has the ball. I run towards Tobey and then change directions to run closer to the goal.
"I'm here," I shout.
Topher follows me and Dan follows Tobey, but we have to try for the goal.
I see Greg really close to the trees and I decide to risk it. Topher is nearly touching Greg, but he has long legs. So I kick the ball to him and hope he can aim the ball into the goal before Topher gets it.
"Put it in Greg!" I shout and watch the ball fly towards Greg's foot.
There it is, there's the goal. Topher's behind me, but I can make this. I'm tired after the running, but I know I can do this. I set my sight on the goal and kick as hard as I can.
I close my eyes, but Greg's yelling tells me I did it. He bumps into me from behind and wraps his arms around me.
"Tobey! That was great! Well done! Great goal!" I hug him tightly, it's one now wach and the game is 2-2.
It was a wonderful goal and Tobey looks really beaten, he run so fast and such a long time.
It's a tie now and Tobey's really tired. Topher looks drained too and my legs are really sore after all the running. Greg is the only one who's jumping up and down. He's surprisingly fit for a skinny guy, I guess it's all the hard work he does here.
"It was a nice goal Tobey," I congratulate him.
I bend over and breathe deeply after that sprint but look up at Tobey from my crouched stance. "Good goin' buddy! Really gave me a run for my money." I smile and look at Greg beaming and then over at Dan and stand up...
"Ooooooooh my god....by the way...has anyone seen my lung?"
"No that won't be pretty...," I giggle and lean back. "So you two run together?"
I look at Topher and Tobey, who nods at me.
"Maybe I could join you sometimes? I'm not much of a runner, but I like to go cyckling and walking," I smile. "I'd like to join you if that's alright?"
I need to start to spend time with others again after this whole Dom-thing. I need to meet new people and give other guys a chance too.
I look at Tobey slowly...yeah, I knew what you were doin buddy...mentally writing down in my brain to give him the beats anyway, playful beats. I look back at Dan and nod.
"Sure, that'd be great. Just to warn you though...it starts off as jogging, then innevitably into some kind of race and one of us eventually gets pushed into some sort of bush at the end. I call it the finish line but Tobey calls it 'The Loser Leaf Heap'." And I shake my head at Tobey. "Tsk tsk tsk....he's such a bad winner!" I wink at Dan just to show that I'm joking around...well, joking about Tobey being a bad winner anyway.
"I wish I could join you sometimes too, but work keeps me busy," I sigh. "And I do get a lot of exercise while I work. I don't thik I could go running after work or before work."
I smile shyly and look at the others. I like them all, I've never had this many friends I have here. It's kind of weird, but in a good way.
"Well...," I smile at him. "Maybe we could check the dvd shelf first, who knows what kind of treasure we might find there?"
I just want to lie down on the couch and relax. Of course I want to chat with Topher too, get to know him better, find out what he likes and hates.
"Alrighty then." We walk into the lounge and turn on all but a few lights and head over to the DVDs. "Hmmm, kinda slim pickings right now. What are you in the mood for? Comedy, drama, horror, action. There's at least one of each in here. Hmm, what else..period pieces. "
I thumb through the movies, picking some out that may do well. Don't really know what Dan likes, but I'm good with anything, so I'll let him decide.
"Horror or comedy?" I look at Topher. "I'm not really into anything "heavy" right now, just some silly and fun."
I lean closer to him and look over what he's picked.
"What do you have there?" I smile.
"This is good action, it's not your typical guns and fast cars, running and shooting," I smile and cuddle little closer to Topher.
It's very nice to sit here like this, especially when I no Topher don't mind me nuzzling right at his side.
